Dil was presented as a film that celebrates the spirit of Indian cinema, and has been made with great respect for all the classics of Indian film. It was inspired by the Hindi movie Jab Tak Hai Jaan and it was praised for its originality and power. The reviews for the film were very positive and it ran for over ten weeks in theatres. The cinematography was handled by Raghunath Jain and the art direction was done by Laxman Utsav.
