I tried all these solutions on my HP DV6000 laptop, which is early 2000's. The BIOS password on this one was pretty easy to clear. Under the CMOS battery is a plastic cover. Open the cover and pull out the battery, it is held down by 6 plastic sheets. Pull it out, remove the 4 screw covers, and you will find the BIOS battery inside, all in a little plastic box.
