Within the Tutorials tab select Add Table, for the table name simply enter VARIANT and for the data type enter VARCHAR2(30). Click OK to finish the tutorial.
The answer is that you do not have to install them side by side, but instead, you can have them co-exist within a single database. This can be done by installing the version of the Data Modeler that you want to use and then continuing to use the Data Modeler in the new database as you normally would. If you have Oracle SQL Developer open, it will automatically load the Data Modeler plug-in and you will be able to open all of the models that you have previously created in your existing database. If you decide to create a new database and do not have Oracle SQL Developer open, you will be able to install the Data Modeler and open it directly from the Data Modeler toolbar.
If you want to install an earlier version of the Data Modeler, or for information on other ways to get the Data Modeler , please visit the Oracle Database home page . If you have questions or issues that are not addressed by these resources, please post them in the forums.
One of the drawbacks to this approach was that we needed to recompile every time we made even a small change to the code. This slowed everything else we were doing down and because we couldn't always have someone waiting for the application to finish building. 827ec27edc
