Want to make a case for the Raspberry Pi that's environmentally friendly, cheap and requires no special equipment? Paper or card is the perfect material! To celebrate the publication of the fully updated third edition of Raspberry Pi For Dummies, we have created two new case templates you can use to house a Raspberry Pi 3, Raspberry Pi 2 or Raspberry Pi Model B+.
Raspberry Pi Case - the 3D printed version - is a case for the Raspberry Pi B+ made from 3D printed plastic. It has a universal base with integrated USB hub and power ports, four mounting holes and a security lid. All the connectors are covered and the case is slightly curved for the best fit. It is also in a black finish, can be produced in a variety of colours, and it's even machine washable! We hope that this case will be useful for students who want to make their own USB hub or to protect their Raspberry Pi during transport and for people who want to be creative with their Raspberry Pi.
The PCB inside the case is the same as the Pi Zero with no extra features. The top and bottom are solid plastic with a couple of holes for the GPIO pins. The side with the VGA is gone, but the PSU is present. I think that's a feature I really like, which is why I purchased the case. I have a couple of small laser cutter projects that I hope to complete soon and I'm looking for a case to work on.
The case is blackened plastic with some hand painting on the bottom of the case. I thought it was a nice touch, it feels a bit like a regular DIY project case. The logo is on the back as well, but when you pull the case apart you have to be careful not to scratch the logo.
A case for the Raspberry Pi, using 3mm MDF, laser cut in a pattern that gives it a smooth, curved appearance. It works well for most Pi models, including the original Raspberry Pi B+. The result is an object that stands out from the crowd, it hints at the technical Raspberry Pi inside, with a more natural rather than the typical high-tech look. This case started as a personal project/experiment, however it is now made in small batches for sale because many people requested one. It doesn't allow access to the analogue audio and video ports because these are behind a curved section of the case. Available from [1], the drawings are available on Thingiverse.
Raspberry Pi is a great little device but its not ready to be put into production as an server. Ben has made a case that hides the Raspberry Pi and is easily assembled. It's a great project for a tinkerer who wants a simple way to hide a computer from prying eyes and make it more hidden. 827ec27edc
