The Prescott firefighters stayed a few hours, then called in the Hot Shots, who were the most expensive and therefore most likely to respond quickly. The Hot Shots arrived a little late, and when the fire broke out, they ran for the horses. One of the horses was uncooperative, and ran back to the ranch to grab another horse. By the time the Hot Shots reached the fire, the entire mountain was fully involved in the fire.
The Hotshots fire fighting techniques:
By far the most important equipment is their fire shelters. With the fire shelters they are able to throw fire blankets over the fire and cut it off. They are the only firefighting technique that is still in use.
The Hotshots wear a red uniform with the silhouette of the Hotshots on the shoulder. They also wear fire resistant nomex gloves to protect their hands from the hot fires. They also wear helmets. On their feet they wear fire boots.
The Hotshots use a radio system that goes through a satellite. The radios are also used to communicate to the air, they can talk to a fire crew and helicopters.
